Start by creating a New Document [400px x 90px]. Now fill the new document with black [Edit > Fill > Black].

Find an image of a spider web and place it on top of the background.

Now go to [Image > Adjustments > Desaturate]. Change the blending mode to Hard Light. Set the opacity to 30%.

Next add an image of the night sky with a full moon. Change the blending mode to Luminosity. Set the opacity to 65%.

Use the Elliptical Marquee tool to select around the moon. Create a new layer and paint yellow in the selection. Change the blending mode to Soft Light. Set the opacity to 80%.

Use the paintbrush with white paint and use a smoke pattern brush at a low opacity to add some smoke to the background.

Now find an image of a candle and cut it out with the Polygon Lasso tool. Set the blending mode to Lighten. Use the Eraser tool with a soft brush to fade the edges of the flame and the base of the candle.

Next add an image of a pumpkin and go to [Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast]. Turn the Brightness down to -10 and turn the Contrast up to +10.

Now add a picture of someone’s head, you can use a picture of your self if you want to, I used Robert Downey Jr. or you can call him Tony Stark aka Iron Man.

Desaturate the face and adjust the Brightness/Contrast. (Brightness: +20 / Contrast: +65).

Select the white part of his face with the Magic Wand. Create a new layer and fill the selection with white. Hide the original image and you should be left with a great outline of a face.

Next we are going to apply some blending options. Here are all the options I added (Inner Shadow, Outer Glow, Gradient Overlay, Inner Glow, and Stroke). Click image to see all options.

After all that we need to add an outer glow to the pumpkin. I duplicated the original pumpkin layer and deleted the face selection from the middle. Then I added a white outer glow with the opacity turn down.

Add ‘Happy Halloween’ to the middle with some yellow glow to match the pumpkin. Now you are finished with this cool Halloween Signature.

Here are my images that I used in this tutorial.

First we are going to lay some textures down to give the map some character and color. My base background is this picture of a piece of crumpled up brown paper.

Next we are going to add some leather on top of that. Change the blending mode to Hard Light and the opacity down to 90%.

Now lay over that your map picture. To make that texture show through, change the blending mode to Multiply.

Next to darken up the edges, draw a radial (black to transparent) gradient. To blend it better, change the layer to Overlay and to 30% opacity.

Lets add some text to brand the image (insert your own text here). I used a fancy script font you will see why next. Also change the blending mode to Color Burn and set opacity to 80%.

Since we are adding some text, lets add a ‘X’, to mark the spot where the treasure is hidden. Use a dark crimson color and set the blending mode to Darken.

Now we can add a fountain pen to the picture. Use the Polygon Lasso tool to cut out the pen and place it in the new image. Add a drop shadow to the layer to give it a three-dimensional feel.

Now cut out some objects to place on top of the map (ex. compass, key, leather book). Add a light shadow with a feathered edge.

Repeat last step until you are happy with the composition. Then we need to flatten the image so we can add the burnt edges. After flattening the image place a blank layer underneath the map layer and fill it with black.

Next use the Polygon Lasso tool to cut out some jagged holes in the map and also take cut a piece out of the corner.

Now delete that selection and you are left with holes in your map. But we are not finished yet.

Place an image of old roughed up wood between the top layer and the black layer. So you can see it through the holes.

Next adjust the color by going to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation. This will make the wood look like it matches the image better.

After that, change the blending mode to Vivid Light, so that the black shows through. Now it looks like burnt charred wood.

Now using the Burn tool, brush around the edges of the holes and randomly around the map. Use a feathered brush at 45% exposure.

Were almost done! Flatten the image one more time and adjust the brightness and contrast. Go to going to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast.

And now we are done creating a treasure map that has withstood the test of time.

Here is the picture we used in Golden Rims Tutorial.

So now that you know how to change the color of the rims, lets try changing the whole car.

Lets get started.

First open up your picture in Photoshop.

Duplicate the car image onto a new layer.

Then go to the menu bar: Image ⇒ Adjustments ⇒ Hue/Saturation.

Click the Colorize button in the right hand corner first.

Move the sliders to your desired color.

Here is what I selected.

Next we are going to cut out your new car layer to match the original car.
(note: I prefer the polygon lasso tool but you can use the pen or magic wand tool.)

Once you select around the car, Inverse your selection by hitting Ctrl+Shift+I.

Then delete the outside selection.

Now we need to clean up some of the edges, so select the lights, license plate, windshield, etc…

The delete them from the new layer.

Here is what your selected car should look like.

Next select the Blending Options drop down menu in the layers pane. And select Linear Burn.

Here is your new green car.

Now you can add your skills from the Golden Rims Tutorial and make some cool green rims.

There you have it, a Chameleon car.

First of all make a new document [ File > New ]. I have used 400 by 90. Now fill the new document with black [ Edit > Fill > Black ].

Now find a nice looking render and place it in the middle of the tag. I have re-sized mine because it was big. Make sure it is rendered (without background).

Now find a city stock, and add it to your tag. Re-size it and place it in the middle of the tag, make sure some piece of the stock is visible on the left side of the render as well as on the right, erase where your main render is placed. Set the layer to Lighten .

Now we have some free space on the sides, time to fill that with the same stock. Copy the stock and move it to the right side of the tag. Erase some parts of the tag so that it blends better with the rest of the stock we had before. Set it also to Lighten.

Do the same thing again, but this time do it on the left side of the tag.

Now take your brush tool and select some cool brushes (like something in the grunge style). Now brush a little on both sides of the render. Use white for the brushing color. Erase the parts you don’t like.

Apply image on a new layer [ Image > Apply Image ]. Now take your smudge tool and smudge the city background. After you are done with smudging it, set it to Lighten.

Add a nice looking texture stock and set it to Lighten. Now take your erase tool and by using a soft round brush, erase the parts you don’t like or that don’t look very good.

Make anew layer and fill it with black [ Edit > Fill > Black ]. Then take your brush tool and make some small dots by using a soft round brush. Then take your smudge tool and smudge some of the dots a little bit.

Set this layer to Color dodge.

Make a new layer. Take your brush tool, select a soft round brush and lower the opacity to about 5% and brush on the sides. After you’re done with brushing set it to Dissolve.

Apply image on a new layer [ Image > Apply Image ]. Now take your dodge tool and by using a soft round brush, make some parts around the renders head lighter.

Make a big white dot on the top of the tag where you can see the renders head. Set the layer to Overlay and then you can erase the parts you don’t like or you can just smudge it a bit to give it better flow.

Brush with brown on both sides, then take your smudge tool smudge the brushing. After you’re done, set the layer to Color dodge.

Brush in black by using a soft round brush. It is best to make big dots, like one on the left side, in the middle, and one on the right side, that will give you the best effect. After you’re done with brushing set the layer to Soft light and lower the opacity to 33%.

Make new layer and take your pencil tool and select a hard round brush 1px big. Now make random lines around the renders head, use two different colors.

Apply image on a new layer [ Image > Apply Image ]. Then take your dodge tool and by using a soft round brush make some parts of the tag a bit lighter. Lower the opacity of the layer to 55%.

Add gradient map :

Set it to Multiply at 22% opacity.

Add a Photo filter:

Set it to Soft light at 33% opacity and erase the parts you don’t like .

Add a Photo filter:

Set to screen at 15% opacity.

Add Color Balance :

Leave it at normal but lower the opacity to 70% and erase the parts you don’t like.

Brush in brown over the render’s face by using a soft round brush and lower the opacity of the layer to 33%.

Brush in white on the bottom of the tag, somewhere near the render’s head.

Make a big white dot on the top of the signature somewhere above the renders head, to make the lighting better. Use white for this and a soft round brush.

Brush over the left side of the render’s head with yellow. Set the layer to Soft light.

Add a gradient map:

Set it to Luminosity at 33% opacity.

Apply image on a new layer [ Image > Apply Image ] then do [ Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen ].

Now you’re done. I hope you have learned something new from this tutorial and that you like your outcome.

Step 1:

First off you’ll need to save the picture below and open it up in Photoshop.

The image below is the pattern we will be using to put onto the shoe, so save it and open it up in Photoshop as well.

Step 2:

Now that you have your two images, let’s begin. Start by dragging and positioning the pattern image into the shoe document, like below:

Make sure to position the pattern image so that it is fully covering the shoe.

Step 3:

Once you have the pattern over the shoe, change the Blending Mode of that pattern image layer to Linear Dodge, like below:

You should end up with something similar to this:

Step 4:

Now you see that the pattern is well blended with the shoe, but now we need to cut off the excess from the pattern.

With a 12px Rounded Brush Eraser start erasing the pattern image where it goes over the shoe cover at the bottom, like below:

Hint: Make sure not to erase parts of the pattern that are on the shoe that you want to see.

Now erase the pattern image that is inside of the shoe, like below:

Step 5:

Now that all the excess parts of the pattern are erased, you are done! You can now put this image on a cool background to display it nice.

You’ll be make something like this:

Step 1:

I’ll have my image zoomed in 1600% all the time, so that you know.

Make a new image, 19×19. Get out the pencil tool with 1 px and draw a circle like this: (note: the formula is 5, 2, 1, 2, 5, 2, 1, 2, 5, 2, 1, 2, 5, 2, 1, 2.)

Step 2:

Now, make the foreground color #5a7d90 and the background #426373. Take the Pencil Tool again and draw this area of the black blue (foreground color):

And the other area the background color (press X to switch the colours) .

Step 3:

Alright, now we’re going to shade it. I will not use Gradient Tool to shade my emoticon, because that will look too simple and noobish. And you don’t want that So I’ll show you how I shade my emoticons. Please look carefully on what to shade which color.

This will take a while but if you’ve done this correctly, you should have this:

Please note that his is my own way of shading emoticons. I don’t want everyone to use this so if you could create your own once you get the hang of it.

Step 4:

Let’s make a tard face now. Tard faces only have 2 eyes of 1 pixel, so don’t make them too big.
Grab the Pencil tool again and make two 1 pixel dots (#426373) like I did:

Step 5:

Now we don’t want a emoticon without a mouth, do we? Let’s create a shocked tard. Do this by creating a open mouth with these colours: #426373 (dark areas) and #5a7d90 (light areas). As you may notice, these are also the colours used for the outline of the emote.
Make your mouth like this:

There! You’re done. Save it as a gif or png. (In .png format, the emote won’t be resized in MSN).

Here’s your result:

You can use it in many cases and you can change colors also if you don’t like pink.

Step 1

Create a new document, whatever size (I used 500×400) and fill it with pink (#f06ea9).
Step 2

Take the Polygonal Lasso Tool (L) and select a shape like I did and fill it with a lighter pink (I used #f49ac1).

Step 3

Make sure the filled area is still selected, otherwise select it again. Go to Select -> Modify -> Contract. And contract it by 5 pixels. Now press CTRL + L (or go to Image -> Adjustments -> Levels) and put 0.80 in the middle box. Press CTRL + D to deselect. You’ll get this:

Step 4

Select the layer again and this time go to Select -> Modify -> Contract. Contract with 20 pixels. Press CTRL + L again and put 0.90 in the middle box. Deselect again and this is the result:

Step 5

Select the same layer again, and while it’s selected, click the background layer. Go to Select -> Modify -> Expand and expand with 20 pixels. Adjust levels again by pressing CTRL + L and put 1.25 in the middle box. Now you should have this:

Step 6

Create a new layer above the background layer and fill it with a white to black Reflected Gradient, here are the settings:

Now click in the middle of the picture and drag it upwards, just a little bit out of the image. Set the blending mode to Screen and you should get this:

Step 7 *Optional*

Now, to create the stars like I did, get out the brush tool and use these settings:

Now click and hold the Mouse button and go over the image a bit like this:

You can blend the stars a bit by duplicating the the layer and going to Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian blur with a radius of 2. Go to Edit -> Fade Gaussian blur and set the blending mode to Lighten. Now, you should get something like this:

And you’re done! You can vary the colors and use it on many images. Here’s what I got after adding a character):

When you’re done with tutorial you will have something similar to below:

Note: Vectors take a lot of time and dedication, so be patient if you make one.
Step 1:

Find a good quality image of an anime character or use the one I used below:

Step 2:

Open this image and grab the Pen tool (P). Make sure your pen tool settings are as below:

First we’ll trace the skin. Use the eyedropper tool (I) to select the base color of the skin. Make a new layer and start tracing with the pen tool. If you did it correctly you will get something like this:

Note: Everytime you trace something, make everything but the background invisible, so you can trace it.

Step 3:

Now make a new layer underneath the skin layer and trace the hair. It will look like this:

Step 4:

Make a new layer underneath the hair and start tracing the orange things on his clothes.

You should get something like this:

Step 5:

Again make a new layer underneath the previous one and trace the black. Result:

Step 6:

Now it’s time to create the shadows. We’ll start with the skin. First make a new layer on top of the skin layer and create a clipping mask (Ctrl+Alt+G). Trace the darkest areas of the skin and fill it with black. Set the blending mode to Soft light with an opacity of 60%. You’ll have something like this:

Note: Everytime you trace a dark shading: Fill with back, set blending mode to Soft Light with 60% Opacity. With the light shadings: Fill with white and set blending mode to Soft Light with 60% opacity.

Step 7:

Now we’ll trace the other two lighter shadings of the skin. Do the same as before, only now fill the layers with white. Use the same blending options and opacity. First start with the darkest highlight. Make a new layer on top of the dark shading layer and make sure it’s got a clipping mask like the other layer. Result:

Now create a layer on top of the previous one and do the same things to get this:

Step 8:

Alright, let’s continue with the shading of the hair. Create a new layer on top of the hair layer and create a clipping mask again. Trace the dark area, you’ll get this:

Now trace the light shading. Result:

Step 9:

Now we’ll shade the orange clothing. NOTE: Don’t do the same as before, do it like this: First create a new layer on top of the orange clothing layer. Start tracing the darkest shading and fill it with black. Set the blending mode to soft like with 30% opacity. Now make a new layer on top of it and trace the other dark shading. Fill it with black, set blending mode to Soft light with 40% opacity.

Make a new layer on top of the others and trace the light areas. Fill this with white, set blending mode to Soft Light again with 60% opacity. You’ll get this if you did it correctly:

Starting to look cool, eh?

Step 10:

Now we’ll shade the last part of the clothing, the black part. Make a new layer on top of the black one and create a clipping mask. Trace the light areas, fill it with white and set blending mode to Soft Light with 60% opacity. You’ll barely see any difference, because the layers is black, but it doesn’t matter.

Step 11:

Let’s create the eyes. Make a new layer on top of everything and trace the white part. Fill it with white. Now pick the eye colour with the Eyedropper tool (I) and trace them. Make a new layer above the white layer and fill it with this color.

Pick the normal haircolour now, make a new layer above the previous one and trace the eyebrows. Fill it and you’ll have something like this:

Step 12:

Now we’ll make some lines in it. This is what makes me different than a lot of others. They just trace it and stroke it with an one pixel line. I don’t like this, so we’ll be doing something else.

Make everything invisible except the original image and make a new layer on top of everything. Pick a darkbrown colour (#603913) and start tracing the lines.

Trace the lines like you traced to shadows, etc. Trace all the black areas that are meant to be lines of the DBZ image.

This takes the most time of all, but it looks cooler than just a 1 pixel line. Be patient and don’t rush this. It can be a bit messy, but only a bit. We don’t want to make it look like a 5 minutes work.

Now if you did this correctly, you should have something like this:

Looks much better now, doesn’t it?

Step 13: (Optional)

You can blend the vector a bit by making the background invisible, so you only have your tracings visible, create a new layer and apply image. Set the blending mode to soft light with 50% opacity.

Step 14:

You can make a simple background by adding a gradient with some colours that fit.

You should now have something similar to this:

Voilà, you’re done. Keep practicing with this and you’ll soon be able to make a vector out of a person!

Step 1:

First of all, make a new document (600×500) and fill it with a gradient. Drag it from top to bottom with these colors: #3C580E and #A4D23B.

Now, you should have something like this:

Step 2:

Make a new layer and grab the Gradient Tool (G) again. This time use these settings:

You should have something like this:

Step 3:

Now it’s time to create the aurora. Grab the Pen Tool (P) and draw paths like this:

You can change the shape with the Convert Point tool if you’re not satisfied with the shape.

Step 4:

Make a selection out of the shape by right-clicking the image and click ‘Make Selection…’ leave the default settings and click OK. You should have a nice selection now.

Step 5:

Grab the Gradient tool (G) again and use these settings.

Make a new layer and using the gradient tool, drag from top left to bottom right. Like this:

There. You have your first aurora. Repeat step 3-5 to create some more. I came up with this:

Step 6:

Now that your aurora is done, we want to make things even nicer. Click the eye in the layers palette of the background layers, so that only your aurora layers are visible. Create a new layer and go to Image -> Apply image. Use these settings:

Make the background layers visible again.

Step 7:

Click the new layer where you applied the image on and go to Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian blur. Choose a radius of 7. Now drag the layer to the top left and change the opacity to whatever looks good. I used 65%. Duplicate this layer and drag it to the bottom right, so you have something like this:

It’s looking better now, right?

Step 8:

Now make a new layer and apply image again with the same settings as before.

Go to Image -> Sharpen -> Sharpen. Do it twice.

And you’re done! This is what it should look like:

1, To start off, create a blank document (500×500). Add a simple light gradient like this

2, Now create a new layer and create a circle in the middle (Use the circle marquee tool and hold shift to get it perfect) and without de-selecting grab your gradient tool, and fill your circle with a 2 color gradient (I used blue)

OPTIONAL: You can also add a inner and outer glow, Black with low opacity.

3, Okay. The orb still looks quite flat to we will add some lighting in. Get the dodge tool and move the settings to
Range: Midtones
Exposure: 50%
Brush Size: 65px

Brush along the bottom curve and the center of the top, you should have something like this.

4, Next thing we will add to the orb is the glossy shine at the top. CTRL+Click on the layer of your orb base so that it will select it all, then grab your circle marquee tool again and while holding ALT select part of your orb you would like to de-select.

5, Grab your gradient tool and set your foreground color to white. Select the white to transparent gradient and click and drag from the top to the bottom of your orb. set the layer to soft light.

6, All that is left to add is the text and reflection. So get your Text tool (T) and type the text you desire in a font of your choice. Press CTRL+J to duplicate the layer. Now go to Edit>Transform>Flip Vertical and reposition your flipped text below your original layer.

7, Now go to Layer>Layer Mask> Reveal All. Again, grab your gradient tool, make sure the layer mask is selected on the layer palette. Click and drag from the top of your first text layer, to the bottom of your duplicated one. Set both layers to soft light.

You Should Now Have This!
